We are a nine lawyer litigation boutique with a focus on civil and commercial litigation, and we are looking for a mid-level associate to join our growing team.

We pride ourselves on our advocacy skills, and strive to get our junior lawyers in court and on their feet as much as possible.  Since our firm opened in June 2018, the lawyers at our office have been counsel on five appeals at the Supreme Court of Canada, nine appeals at the BC Court of Appeal, well over a dozen trials and arbitration hearings, and countless chambers applications.  When we say we offer the opportunity to develop your advocacy skills, we mean it.

The successful candidate will be well-organized with good writing skills, and will not take him or herself too seriously.  We have a tight-knit group that works well together and looks after one another.  The successful candidate must play well with others and treat staff with the utmost respect.

Off to Ottawa!

On March 20, 2019, the Supreme Court of Canada will hear an appeal in R v RV, a case involving section 276 of the Criminal Code. Section 276 sets out the circumstances in which it is appropriate to cross-examine a sexual assault survivor at trial on his or her sexual history.  

We are proud to be representing the Ending Violence Association of Canada (“EVA Canada”), which is intervening in the appeal.  EVA Canada is a leading national voice against gender-based violence and a consistent advocate for sexual assault survivors.

At the hearing of the appeal, we will be advocating on behalf of EVA Canada for an approach to section 276 which prioritizes the personal dignity, integrity, safety and privacy of sexual assault survivors and does not re-victimize survivors who have reported their assaults and sought justice.
