To many, litigation is stressful and daunting. To Kaitlyn, there’s nothing better than diving into a complex case. Kaitlyn brings her enthusiasm for the law and knack for finding practical solutions to all of her files.
Kaitlyn has over ten years of experience advising clients on claims involving breach of commercial contracts, real estate, cross border issues and professional negligence. Her practice also includes shareholder, partnership and corporate control disputes. Throughout her career, Kaitlyn has appeared before administrative tribunals, the International Court of Arbitration in New York, all levels of court in British Columbia and the Supreme Court of Canada.
Kaitlyn is a former member of the Vancouver Bar Association executive, Advocates’ Society Young Advocates Team and cast member of the Vancouver Lawyer Show. Now, she spends most of her free time outdoors with her family, planning her next trip, and belting out harmonies in a local choir. Kaitlyn is an avid supporter of the arts, attending concerts and theatre shows whenever she can, and eagerly awaiting her own return to the stage.

Kim v Argo Ventures Inc., 2024 BCSC 763: represented a Vancouver based investor with respect to a contractual dispute surrounding a large commercial and residential development project in the Olympic Village area.
Liang v Barnard, 2023 BCSC 219: represented Vancouver based investors in an energy drink company and a related farming business in successfully defending an application to stay the claims against certain defendants on jurisdictional grounds. See also Liang v Barnard, 2022 BCSC 924 for a related application to stay the claims on the basis of an arbitration clause contained in a shareholders’ agreement.
Kang v Nijjar, 2022 BCSC 1717, aff’d 2023 BCCA 262: represented a commercial lender in a seven day trial defending a claim from a former borrower, as well as responding to an appeal from the dismissal of the borrower’s claim.
Hirakawa v Bonner, 2022 BCCA 250: represented a Japanese investor in a video game venture with respect to an appeal of two Mareva injunctions granted in the court below.
Short v Ewachniuk, 2021 BCSC 994: represented a businessman who established and grew a marina business in Richmond, BC, in defending and bringing an oppression claim. After a 9 day petition hearing, the court ruled in favour of our client and valued his shares in the business at $1.45 million.
Trinity Western University v Law Society of Upper Canada, 2018 SCC 33: represented an intervener in a case concerning a law society’s refusal to approve a proposed law school by reason of the university’s discriminatory community covenant that all students are required to sign.
Lin v CIBC Mortgages Inc., 2015 BCCA 518: represented an insurer and insured in successfully defending an appeal of a mortgage cancellation action, which involved mortgage fraud and theft committed by a notary.
Garcia v Tahoe Resources Inc., 2015 BCSC 2045: represented a mining company in successfully obtaining a stay of proceedings on jurisdictional grounds in a civil claim brought by Guatemalan plaintiffs in British Columbia.
BNSF Railway Company v Teck Metals Ltd., 2015 BCSC 536: represented a mining company in successfully defending an application to strike portions of its response to civil claim in an action brought by a railway company alleging it paid over $17 million as a result of a mistake.
Represented a government body, the vendor of property worth nearly $9 million located in Vancouver, BC, with a claim against the purchasers.
Represented a Portuguese software development company in an arbitration before the International Court of Arbitration in New York concerning the payment of licensing fees to a phone manufacturer.
